Your domain is your digital identity, and it plays a significant role in how your audience perceives you. With WriteStellar, you have the power to shape your online identity by using your own domain.
Why Use Your Own Domain?
-
Brand Consistency: A custom domain reinforces your brand identity, making it easier for your readers to remember and recognize you.
-
Professionalism: It adds a level of professionalism to your online presence, which can be crucial for writers looking to establish credibility.
-
Control: With your own domain, you have full control over your website's address, ensuring it aligns with your content and goals.
Getting Started
Choose Your Domain
If you don't already have a custom domain, you can register one through a domain registrar like Namecheap ↗. Select a domain name that represents your brand or content niche.
Connect Your Domain
In the WriteStellar app, navigate to the Domains section of your site settings. Enter your custom domain and click Save Changes. At this point you should see some instructions for updating your domain's DNS records. This is typically done via your domain registrar.
For subdomains (e.g. blog.[yourdomain].com), you'll want to add the following record:
Type Name Value
CNAME [subdomain] cname.writestellar.com
For example, this site's (blog.writestellar.com ↗) name field would be "blog".
For root domains (e.g. [yourdomain.com ↗]), you'll want this record instead:
Type Name Value
A @ 76.76.21.21
Wait for DNS Propagation
It may take some time for the changes to propagate across the internet. During this time, your WriteStellar site will gradually become accessible via your custom domain.
Once the DNS changes have fully propagated, your WriteStellar site will be live at your custom domain. Now, your readers can find your content with ease.
